Design
After using it for like week now
I have noticed that the phone screens have rounded corners, like the Galaxy S22, not the square corners of the S23 Ultra. When it comes to materials, Google sticks to the basics – using glass and aluminum, unlike Apple’s titanium in their latest iPhones. The Pixel 8 Pro has a matte finish with brushed aluminum for the camera bar and frame. Its back glass is glossy, while its frame is matte aluminum.. It’s up to your preference.
The camera bar looks a bit different now. The difference between the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro is that the Pro’s camera lenses are closer together.
There’s also a new sensor on the Pro, which is a thermometer for measuring surface temperatures. Google applied for FDA approval to use it for measuring body temperature. But it’s not available right when the phone launches.
Display
In comparison with last year’s Pixel 8, the Pixel 8 has a slightly smaller 6.2-inch display, While the Pixel 8 Pro still has its 6.7-inch LCD but with flat corners instead of curved ones. Both screens are supposed to be brighter. When you’re outside, they can go even brighter, up to 2,000 and 2,400 nits, respectively.
As expected, the Pixel 8 keeps its 1080p resolution but gets a boost to 120Hz. Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 Pro continues to use a 1440p (or equivalent) LTPO OLED screen that can go as low as 1Hz.A feature not available on the smaller, more affordable model.
Cameras
When it comes to Google Pixel 8 phones, the camera is a huge matter. Google is known for its great photos. Thanks to excellent hardware and smart software. In the past, they used the same camera sensor for a long time, only changing with the Pixel 6. But this year, things are different.
In the Pixel 8 Pro, all three camera sensors are new, while the Pixel 8 gets a new primary sensor. Both phones have a 50MP lens with a cool f/1.68 aperture. They can do 2x zoom. The Pixel 8 uses it for Super Res Zoom, which maxes out at 8x zoom on that phone.
Both models have a similar front-facing camera, a 10.5MP lens with an f/2.2 aperture. However, only the Pro supports autofocus. Both phones can use this camera for face unlock with authentication. It is a huge upgrade from previous year’s models.
